Designer & Artist Note

Born out of natural dialogue and collective exploration, this collaboration brings together an unexpected source of inspiration: a weekend football game. The moment captured during the game—when Chui observed her teammate's running path traced by a fitness tracker—sparked a conversation about the beauty found in life's chaotic movements. This tireless, yet graceful, motion was the catalyst for blending two seemingly disparate elements: the CONCHA collection’s shell-like paper structure and warm brass details, paired with the captivating embroidery that Chui is known for.

Chui’s embroidery brings a new dimension to the established CONCHA collection, with intricate hand-stitching that traces the wild energy of the football game. These ‘scribbles’ symbolise the chaos and dedication that underpin transformation, contrasting with the calm, refined aesthetic of the original collection. This limited edition encapsulates the essence of both chaos and calm, inviting us to embrace the transformative power of life’s most dynamic moments.

Designed and crafted by Riya, the CONCHA collection is reimagined through Chui's embroidered storytelling, offering a fresh perspective on its established form. The result is a sculptural light fixture that transcends function, turning everyday spaces into art. The interplay of light and the delicate stitching casts a warm, inviting glow, bringing whimsy and textural intrigue to the room. Crafted from a unique paper blend of paper and non-woven fabric, the fixture’s surface reveals the fibres that lend it its distinctive character. When illuminated, the paper takes on a soft, warm sheen that further enhances the piece's tactile and visual appeal.

Each CONCHA Embroidure Limited Edition Piece is handcrafted, embroidered, and assembled in our London-based studio, where the close collaboration between artist Nicole Chui and Riya, our founder, ensures every detail is perfected. This special edition is a tribute to collaboration, the unexpected beauty of chaos, and the transformative power of art.
